Can you really be happy in just 1 minute a day?
Life can be stressful.
It can be hard.
We feel lack of clarity, too busy, not able enough.
Sometimes we start the day well, getting out the right side of the bed.
Others days we fall over the cat on the way to the bathroom and spill coffee down our favourite outfit.
The best advice I can give is to make sure that you run the day, don’t let the day run you.
If you dont know how to do this it can be hard to get yourself into a good mind-frame if your day has started badly.
So the purpose of this post is to give you my top tips for how to be happy in less than 1 minute a day.
Anytime you feel your day is not going to plan you can do implement one of these and feel happier.
My Top Five Tips
Stage your own concert – put on your favourite song and go for it
Literally feel the music, sing your little heart out, dance like no-one is watching, imaging the crowd chanting your name, be the star.
Get up just 5 minutes early, take that time to sit in silence for a minute.
Have a coffee in peace and stillness, go outside and breathe in the morning air.
Take deep breathes, close your eyes and just focus on your breathe for just one minute
Doing this will instantly connect you and relax your entire mind and body.
Buy yourself some flowers.
This is something most of us just don’t do but honestly it will make you smile every time you look at them BECAUSE we don’t do it.
Give a compliment to a complete stranger, not only will it brighten their day it will also impact yours.
My Next Five
Change your computer or phone screensaver to something you absolutely love, either a picture or a quote. Every time you see it you will feel your mood lift.
Stretch, really stretch tall, this moves the stale energy out of your body and works through the kinks, it feels amazing in your body to really stretch it.
Write down five things that you are grateful for. Noticing even the smallest of things can make you feel better about your life.
Make your bed, honestly the act of making your bed can create more happiness – its true, have a read here.
Before you get out of bed in the morning while you are still sleepy say the following “today I will experience a day of heaven on earth, I expect to see miracles everywhere” the more you state this the truer it will become, the happier and better your days be.
Even More to Choose From
Have a real conversation with someone, don’t moan, don’t criticise just make a genuine connection about something, it will feel amazing.
Remember something happy that has already happened in your life and go back there and relive it in your imagination.
Text a friends just to say hi and le them know you are thinking of them. It will brighten both your days.
Move, just move – it will make you feel instantly better (I talk more about this here)
Go outside for one minute. It’s amazing how different you feel when in the fresh air and the best bit is you can do this no matter where you are, on the way to work, during your break, at school, college or at home.
Write about your dream day for one minute – I promise you’ll love this process so much you’ll want to do it everyday (tip: go big, this is your chance to dream really big, massive powerful thoughts that you would absolutely be living if you had your dream life).
Read a passage from your favourite book as a child. This will bring back amazing memories and warm your heart.
Speak to your mum or dad, talking to your parents can instantly make you feel protected and happy. Even if they have passed you can still talk to them, they are always with you and all you have to do is talk, I promise they will hear you.
You Can Easily Change
So whether you are truly having a bad day.
Or you had 10 minutes where you let your thoughts run unchecked.
You can change, you can choose one of the small easy 1 minute tasks above to make you feel instantly lighter, instantly happier.
Don’t let the bad days rule, remember you rule the day, the day does not rule you.
